Yuva Shakti/Youth Wing

Youth Wing - Yuvashakti

“Age considers; Youth ventures.” Indian Poet Rabindranath Tagore’s astute observation is an apt description of Hindu Centre’s youth wing. With our pool of responsible and resourceful youth backed by senior and more experienced members of the Management committee and other volunteers, the youth wing has been gradually expanding their activities and gaining recognition.

Youth pulsates with potential, its most appealing attribute among other defining characteristics such as spiritedness, vibrancy and seemingly boundless energy. ‘Yuvashakti’ means Youth Power; a rather befitting name for our youth wing which is run for the youth by the youth.

The vision of Yuvashakti is to spread the ageless Hinduism philosophy to all Hindu youths in Singapore. Committee members organize fun, interactive and engaging activities for today’s youth while at the same time taking care to impart Hinduism values and dispel common misconceptions using a non-classroom and down-to-earth approach.

Yuvashakti bands together youths ranging in age from 16 to 35 from diverse backgrounds. Our volunteer pool is made up of people from various schools, institutions and professions. Yuvashakti grooms exemplary volunteer leaders who are confidently grounded in their vision of Hindu Dharma. Our youth are engaged in community work, lead charity drives and represent Hindu Centre at public forums while also attempting to understand and appreciate youth of different religious, cultural, ethnic, socio-economic backgrounds in Singapore by participating in inter-faith dialogues.
